Rodent This has to be one of the best DIY solo albums ever. After several close listenings, I'm increasingly impressed with the artist and her achievement here. The songs are wonderful & catchy; and the clarity of her big arrangements is top-notch. (And I heart the vocal chorusing.) I listen to this all the time, especially when I need an uplift.

The Game 03:42
Sitting on your white and fluffy cloud Don't know what you're doing don't wanna come down I hate to tell you this is what you left behind. Well yes, life's a mess but I would have thought That someone would showed you how it worked Hiding your head has never solved a thing. Oo-oo-h, just take a step back, oh Grab your life back. Shut out the crushing dark And take a good old look inside your heart It doesn't take much to feel afraid. It's just the way we play the game. Floating in your blue lagoon Just drifting where the world pulls you What's your purpose when all you do is stare? Oo-oo-h, just take a step back, oh Grab your life back. Shut out the crushing dark And take a good old look inside your heart It doesn't take much to feel afraid. It's just the way we play the game. Games, games, games, just play the game. Games, (don't you want to play the) Games, (come along and play the) Games, just play the game. Oo-oo-h, just take a step back, oh Grab your life back. Shut out the crushing dark And take a good old look inside your heart It doesn't take much to feel afraid. It's just the way we play the game.

Denial, breathed in every word. Denial, but you just can't keep it up. 'Cause every time you let it slip Every time you get caught up in it. And I hate to say but it's so obvious How his name sends a shiver down your spine And I hate to say but it's so obvious how As if one more time, and it'll be what you wanted it to be. It's a trial, holding back the flood you've made. It's a trial, trying to chain it in. 'Cause every time you lose your grip Every time you get caught up in it. And I hate to say but it's so obvious How his name sends a shiver down your spine And I hate to say but it's so obvious how And I hate to say but it's so obvious How you wish that you could say that 'he is mine'. And I hate to say but it's so obvious how As if one more time, and it'll be what you wanted it to be. Maybe this was all you wanted Maybe you're better off now. (x4) And I hate to say but it's so obvious How his name sends a shiver down your spine And I hate to say but it's so obvious how And I hate to say but it's so obvious How you wish that you could say that 'he is mine'. And I hate to say but it's so obvious how Years down the line you'll say Maybe I am better off now.

This Way 03:52
I was lost without you I was broken without you I was hurt without you by my side Through those painful endless nights. Wandering the wilderness for a sign The sign that you would be mine The stars that look down on me Sing the song The song of you and me. Ooh, that special song of you and me. And everything that I say can be meant for us this way And everything that we ever were was not meant Not meant to end this way now Ooh not meant to end this way now. I am weak without you I am desperate without a clue I am lonely without you holding my hand Through the hurt you understand. 'Cause I wandered the wilderness for a sign The sign that you would be mine The stars that looked down on me Sang the song The song of you and me. Ooh, the sad song of you and me. But everything that I said could be meant for us this way And everything that we ever were was not meant Not meant to be this way now Ooh not meant to be this way now. I thought it would never end I thought, thought you were my godsend I thought that through thick or thin You would be with me, with me, with me this way Comforting me this way. But everything that I said was never meant for us this way And everything that we ever were was a lie A lie I tried to hide Ooh never this way Ooh why did you choose this way? Ooh not when I love you this way.

11:49 05:04
Stay this way forever Don't you dare change And we'll still be counting the days Long through this age. Well that's what I said before But I take that all back now 'Cause I've seen how much damage is caused By clinging too tight to what's gone. And while 11:49 goes by We're sharing our lives out under the sky As if nothing else could infiltrate our minds. But who knew just how time could fly? Has a tendency to pass you by Before you know it you've been left behind At 11:49. Will you keep hold of me? Now you've seen the truth? And can I still count on you To find our place out here? And while 11:49 goes by We're sharing our lives out under the sky As if nothing else could infiltrate our minds. But who knew just how time could fly? Has a tendency to pass you by Before you know it you've been left behind At 11:49. Yes, the past holds dear to me But I can't go on living there. And I will honour the memory But it's time to take a breath of fresh air. And while 11:49 goes by We're sharing our lives out under the sky As if nothing else could infiltrate our minds. But who knew just how time could fly? Has a tendency to pass you by Before you know it you've been left behind At 11:49.

Mirror 04:00
I know you're set in your ways And I know that you think that that's okay But I don't. 'Cause there's too many people who walk this earth Everything in their hand but a sense of self worth I know. But one day you will look into that mirror and see The person who you were designed to be. Don't lose sight of her. Mirror, mirror. The devil will use it to get to you But you gotta be strong don't let him through 'Cause you're strong girl You're stronger. I know you think I don't understand That life is hard and nothing goes like planned But I do. 'Cause too many times I've heard you say For once in your life you don't want to run away. Mirror, mirror. The devil will use it to get to you But you gotta be strong don't let him through 'Cause you're strong girl You're stronger. You look on by you don't let it show How much it really hurts you don't want them to know But I'm never going to let you sink that low again. (x3) Mirror, mirror. The devil will use it to get to you But you gotta be strong don't let him through 'Cause you're strong girl You're stronger.

Deep End 03:49
See me now, rush rush rush Filling life with far too much No time to stop, no time to breathe. But you bring me my escape Launch me into freedom Away go my worries. Your voice carries me through. I feel like I've been thrown in the deep end Locked in this state my feet can't feel the ground. And everything I face may seem impossible But I've stumbled on a gem, your music's what I've what I've found. Never got to sit it out Once it starts don't dare to doubt No time to think, no time to pause. Sing to me, once again Let me feel the calm it always brings Let the weight of the day just disappear. Your voice carries me through. I feel like I've been thrown in the deep end Locked in this state my feet can't feel the ground. And everything I face may seem impossible But I've stumbled on a gem, your magic's what I've what I've found. And I love the way You always stay with me So no matter what I've done You're there to show me heaven in a place where there is none. I feel like I've been thrown in the deep end Locked in this state my feet can't feel the ground. And everything I face may seem impossible But I've stumbled on a gem, your music's what I've what I've found. I feel like I've been thrown in the deep end Locked in this state my feet can't feel the ground. And everything I face may seem impossible But I've stumbled on a gem, your magic's what I've what I've found.

Come In Time 05:01
Are you swimming in the ocean, or drowning in the sea? Are you beating, beating those tides or letting them lead? You say there's nothing left, but when did you last check? You just gotta make your mind up girl and go for it, let nothing hold you back. Feel the breeze running through your hair, this is what its like to be free. Lose your fears, drop your load, and take a chance on me. Love what you never thought you could, say goodbye to doubt for good And set off for Narnia, girl you can make it, you just gotta take it. Don't worry about December, Don't fret about the weather. You'll find meaning in the truth; a whole world set apart for you Who you are will make it through. Those days will come in time. Everything you've ever done has its place, every moment lived a purpose. It's not just you we all make mistakes, but each one is a lesson learned. Don't try to hide behind a mask, I'm telling you it never works. Before long the cracks start to show and all you're left with is a empty shell. Don't worry about December, Don't fret about the weather. You'll find meaning in the truth; a whole world set apart for you Who you are will make it through. Those days will come in time. You've gotta get back out of hiding Put your weaknesses on show. When the darkness comes you fight it And one day soon you'll come back, step into the light. Don't worry about December, Don't fret about the weather. You'll find meaning in the truth; a whole world set apart for you Who you are will make it through. Those days will come in time.

Late night promises Midnight tears, Blame the scars again It's easier than facing the truth. Don't you know you're beautiful And no one can take that away? Feel the pulse that's beating inside And let it bring you back to life. Made in heaven You were made to shine Made to illuminate the darkest night. Made in honesty And sewn in love Don't listen to what they say, You're more than good enough. Don't let go again, Waiting on back at square one. Find your soul again, You only get to use it once. Made in heaven You were made to shine Made to illuminate the darkest night. Made in honesty And sewn in love Don't listen to what they say, You're more than good enough. Made in heaven but you lost your way Crawling down the avenue of past mistakes. But you can still turn round, no it's never too late You can't just give up you gotta stand and fight your fate. Fight your fate! Made in heaven You were made to shine Made to illuminate the darkest night. Made in honesty And sewn in love Don't listen to what they say, You're more than good enough. Made in heaven You were made to shine, Made to illuminate the darkest night.

Open Door 04:35
Every thought is an open door Secrets flee from every corner They scream from my brain, forever crying out the name Because my thoughts are an open door. Every thought is an open door There's no one left to judge any more We're all walking contradictions, of mind versus acts For my thoughts are an open door. Think of me, think of you, We're all hiding from the truth How we'd love to turn the tables, Tell these blockages to move. Think of him, think of her, How we'd feel if we could learn... How to close the door, how not to feel any more. Every thought is an open door Every heart left aching for more There's nowhere to hide, my fears are in plain sight Now my thoughts are an open door. Think of me, think of you, We're all hiding from the truth How we'd love to turn the tables, Tell these blockages to move. Think of him, think of her, How we'd feel if we could learn... How to close the door, how not to feel any more. Our cards laid out on the table. Our rights have been misplaced. Now our fragile hearts are a weave of threads Made from this mess of a life where our lonely feet tread. Think of me, think of you, We're all hiding from the truth How we'd love to turn the tables, Tell these blockages to move. Think of him, think of her, How we'd feel if we could learn... How to close the door, how not to feel any more.

Slowly sinking way down in the ground Took your time out, time to bring it back around I saw you like you used to be And the way you've become now is a tragedy But I know you'll bring that person back to me. 'Cause you can see that sparkle in your eyes that went away Reborn with the hope of a brand new day Just promise me this time it won't slip away. 'Cause it's alive with the fire that burns in you, One of a kind that's uniquely you So let's laugh at the world the way we used to do. There's no way out except the way you came Planned your life out but look what it became The path you've been on is a lonely one But from here on out you're back under the sun You'll leave behind the dark from where you've come. 'Cause you can see that sparkle in your eyes that went away Reborn with the hope of a brand new day Just promise me this time it won't slip away. 'Cause it's alive with the fire that burns in you, One of a kind that's uniquely you So let's laugh at the world the way we used to do. And you're the perfect mirror image Of a life we knew of once But all turned back to front. And the journey may have spiraled And you may have fallen the slippery slope And the way ahead looks steep but you gotta embrace the ride. 'Cause you can see that sparkle in your eyes that went away Reborn with the hope of a brand new day Just promise me this time it won't slip away. 'Cause it's alive with the fire that burns in you, One of a kind that's uniquely you So let's laugh at the world the way we used to do.

Free Society 03:53
Yesterday I walked the streets free to be what I wanted to be, Today I find I'm suddenly not allowed to be me I see I'm not good enough any more. So won't you please tell me why what used to be fine is so wrong Or were you planning this backstabbing all along? Please explain 'cause I just don't understand Well I'm not sitting back and letting you walk all over me so You say that we're all equal? Well I guess some are just more equal than me and Everyone has a right to make their own choice But if it's not what you want then you'll just hide us away. All you did is take your discrimination And turn it on its head, wrap it up in silver paper, Tie it with gold ribbon, sprinkle it with glitter, And call it free society. Yesterday I had the freedom to believe what I thought was right Today I find I have to shape my views to fit your mould tight I'm not trusted enough any more. So won't you please tell me why we all have to bend to your ways When our own worked fine until you got in the way? Please explain 'cause it just doesn't make sense. Well I'm not sitting back and letting you walk all over me so You say that we're all equal? Well I guess some are just more equal than me and Everyone has a right to make their own choice But if it's not what you want then you'll just hide us away. All you did is take your discrimination And turn it on its head, wrap it up in silver paper, Tie it with gold ribbon, sprinkle it with glitter, And call it free society. Well by all means do what you think best But don't think that your opinions are better than all the rest We're not trying to undermine your authority But I think you'll find we're no silent minority Well I'm not sitting back and letting you walk all over me so You say that we're all equal? Well I guess some are just more equal than me and Everyone has a right to make their own choice But if it's not what you want then you'll just hide us away. All you did is take your discrimination And turn it on its head, wrap it up in silver paper, Tie it with gold ribbon, sprinkle it with glitter, And call it free society.
